Resources

Below are resources that may be helpful as you explore therapy options, mental health supports, and crisis services.

Tips for connecting to OHIP-covered therapy and using your insurance

You may wish to speak with your primary care provider, such as a family doctor or nurse practitioner, to ask about referrals for therapy services in your area. OHIP-covered psychotherapy is offered through many hospitals and community health organizations.

If you have access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through your workplace, short-term therapy may be available at no cost. Coverage details vary by employer and provider.

If you are employed or enrolled in school, check your benefits to see whether psychological services are covered and which types of providers are eligible.

These services are often listed under paramedical or extended health benefits.
